>>An ADEMA delegation is starting another international cooperation expedition in Wasini, Kenya, within its “Island to Island- Illa a Illa” oral health assistance and promotion program, which will last until February 8.
A delegation from ADEMA held a working meeting in Nairobi with representatives from Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK), in collaboration with the Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM), with the aim of analyzing possible avenues for academic and training collaboration in the field of health sciences.
During the meeting, participants focused on identifying areas for collaboration in teaching and program development, as well as studying training models with a clinical component and an emphasis on employability. In the case of GLUK, the discussion centered on a proposal to launch a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program based in Kisumu, Kenya, aligned with international standards for dental education and emphasizing clinical competence, biomedical sciences, and community-based oral health care.
Furthermore, the opportunity to explore collaborative approaches to strengthen and expand the delivery of diploma programs and their academic progression pathways was analyzed. Priority areas mentioned by IHM include Dental Hygiene, X-ray Operator, Dietitians, among others, as well as the development of practice networks in healthcare settings.
The president of ADEMA, Diego González, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting held thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Emilio Almoyna, with the aim of defining different lines of cooperation that will allow progress in joint projects, academic exchange and strengthening of health training in these different areas, with international standards and with the accreditation systems in force in this country.
