This morning, the ADEMA+ Foundation and the Fundació Patronat Joan XXIII d’Inca signed two collaboration agreements to strengthen the practical training of students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry and guarantee specialized dental care for groups facing economic and/or social vulnerability. These agreements integrate the academic field with the healthcare landscape, strengthening an educational model based on innovation, clinical excellence, and social commitment.
Students of the Dentistry Degree at the ADEMA University School will complete curricular academic internships at the Fundació Patronat Joan XXIII d’Inca Clinic. These internships will allow students to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom in a real-life setting, in direct contact with patients and under the supervision of two tutors: one from ADEMA and the other from the collaborating institution.
As explained by ADEMA President Diego González, “Our educational model, which uses service-learning projects, fosters and enhances the development of competencies and skills. Future dentists will participate in comprehensive clinical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, the design of individualized treatment plans, and preventive and therapeutic procedures tailored to each patient’s needs. Among the interventions they will be able to perform, supervised by specialists, are conservative treatments such as fillings and root canals, fluoride application, basic surgical procedures such as tooth extractions, and oral hygiene education, among others.”
The goal of the ADEMA University School is to train highly qualified professionals while simultaneously equipping them with the ability to handle real-life clinical scenarios. “This methodology, based on intensive practice and direct interaction with patients, not only increases the employability of graduates but also prepares them to respond to the current challenges of modern dentistry,” explained González.
Treatments at the Integrated University Clinic
Furthermore, users of the Joan XXIII Foundation will be able to benefit from and access comprehensive dental treatments at the ADEMA Integrated University Clinic, from the initial examination to oral rehabilitation. Referred patients will receive comprehensive, high-quality care, including diagnosis, prevention, and personalized treatments, following advanced clinical standards and safety protocols supervised by the teaching team.
Furthermore, oral care will be provided with a focus on prevention and health education, offering guidance on oral hygiene and healthy habits to both patients and their families. This care model highlights the university’s social role and transforms the Integrated University Clinic into a resource open to the community, especially for those in the most vulnerable situations.
The ADEMA University Clinic, where the agreement activities will take place, has 30 operating rooms and advanced technology, such as intraoral 3D scanners, dental lasers, digital microscopes, and 3D haptic simulators that allow students to practice before treating real patients.
This approach ensures that future dentists acquire practical skills in a supervised environment, while contributing to the well-being of vulnerable groups through charitable projects.
During the signing ceremony, ADEMA President Diego González Carrasco thanked the Fundació Patronat Joan XXIII for its trust in our institution and explained that “these agreements reinforce our commitment to excellent university education that combines theory and practice, placing the student at the center of learning and bringing them closer to clinical reality from the very beginning. We want our students to develop not only technical skills but also human and social values that allow them to practice their profession with sensitivity and responsibility toward the community.”
For his part, the president of the Joan XXIII Foundation, Pere Rotger Llabrés, also expressed his satisfaction with the signing of these agreements, which “allow us to offer our users access to high-quality dental treatments and, at the same time, provide students with a unique training opportunity that connects them with the real challenges of clinical practice. It’s a collaboration that benefits everyone: patients, future professionals, and society as a whole.”
Finally, Rotger also wanted to highlight the role of Dr. Catalina Bennasar for her mediation in making this agreement a reality and thanked “Dr. Bennasar’s history of selfless collaboration, which she has carried out since 1992 in providing dental care to the users of the Joan XXIII Foundation.”
