Escuela Universitaria ADEMA

>>Guillem Aloy, architect and director of the ADEMA Campus in Inca, attended the presentation. >> The University of Mallorca adds this collaboration to an academic year marked by the launch of the Foundation Year in Architecture and Design.

The University of Mallorca (UMAC) is collaborating on the new 2026 Cinema and Architecture Series, “La mesura invisible” (The Invisible Measure), an initiative of the Official College of Architects of the Balearic Islands (COAIB) designed to serve as a space for reflection on architecture, the city, and ways of inhabiting space through the language of cinema.

The series, presented by Joan Carles Martorell—a communicator, audiovisual producer, and the initiative’s coordinator—and Elisabet Colom, the COAIB’s board member for culture, comprises three screenings taking place between October and November at various venues across Mallorca. The sessions will address three central themes of the architectural discipline: commitment, the gaze, and authorship.

The program will begin on October 7 at the COAIB headquarters with *The Great Arch* (*El arquitecto*) by Stéphane Demoustier; continue on October 29 at the Teatre Principal d’Inca with *Columbus* by Kogonada; and conclude on November 20 at the Fundació Toni Catany in Llucmajor with *E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea* by Beatrice Minger and Christoph Schaub.

Each screening will be accompanied by a conversation led by Joan Carles Martorell, featuring professionals from the fields of architecture and other disciplines. Guests include architects Carme Pinós, Pep Ripoll, and Juan Miguel Tizón.

“La mesure invisible” is promoted by the COAIB with the collaboration of the Teatre Principal d’Inca, the Associació Amics del Cinema d’Inca i Comarca (ACIC), the Fundació Toni Catany – International Center of Photography and the University of Mallorca (UMAC), and has the support of Formatges Grimalt, Quely and Puig.

A particularly significant collaboration during an academic year that also sees the first cohort of the Foundation Year in Architecture and Design—a preparatory program that introduces students to these disciplines and allows them to explore their calling before making the leap to university studies.

With this initiative, UMAC reinforces its commitment to creating spaces where the university, architecture, culture, and society can come together, bringing knowledge and reflection regarding the built environment to new audiences.
