>> Dr. Pere Riutord has presented the new university’s academic and institutional project to Xavier Simonet, Deputy Director General of Health Resources at Mutua Balear, and members of his team.
The Rector of the Universitat de Mallorca (UMAC-ADEMA), Dr. Pere Riutord, paid his first official visit to Mutua Balear, where he met with the organization’s Deputy Director General of Financial Benefits and Health Resources, Xavier Simonet, and various members of his team: Carmen Bestard (Head of the HR Department), Kika Oliver (HR Planning and Development Specialist), Raquel Muñoz (Head of the Health Administration and Management Department), and Francisca Alzamora (Secretary to the Medical Directorate).
The meeting is part of the agenda of contacts that the new university is developing with strategic institutions and entities in the Balearic Islands, with the aim of strengthening its ties to the professional, healthcare, scientific, and business sectors.
During the meeting, the rector outlined the academic and institutional project for the new Universitat de Mallorca—an initiative driven by ADEMA. The institution was established with the aim of becoming a leading university in the islands, employing a teaching model connected to professional realities and fostering research, innovation, and ongoing collaboration with the economic and social sectors, as well as the international community.
The new rector has placed special emphasis on driving joint initiatives in areas such as education, applied research, innovation, prevention, and knowledge transfer, fostering a direct connection between academic activity and the real needs of the professional environment.
The future academic offerings of the Universitat de Mallorca will include programs in the health sciences, such as Medicine, Biomedicine, Biomedical and Health Engineering, Speech Therapy, Dentistry (also offered in English), and Human Nutrition and Dietetics. This initiative will enable the training of qualified professionals capable of addressing current and future challenges in the healthcare, scientific, and technological sectors.
