From June 25th to August 9th, the La Misericòrdia Cultural Center will host the traveling exhibition of ADEMA’s University Art Biennial, which brings together artistic and research works from 21 Fine Arts schools around the world. The exhibition, which opened this Wednesday, offers a plural and multidisciplinary view of how contemporary art is taught, researched, and created in the world’s most innovative academic centers, according to Antònia Roca, Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca and Minister of Culture and Heritage.
Each participating university has contributed a piece that serves as a symbolic synthesis of their artistic vision, many of which emerged from collaborative processes. The exhibition presents formats as diverse as sculptures, immersive installations, and audiovisuals. Among the highlights is the installation presented by Princeton University (USA), which transforms the exhibition into a sensorial experience that directly appeals to the visiting public.
Vice President and Councilor Roca emphasized the importance of this exhibition as a space for educational and cultural development: “Art is a driving force of thought and social transformation. This exhibition demonstrates that collaboration between educational institutions around the world can generate environments for creation and reflection that are essential for today’s society.” Roca also expressed her pride in making Mallorca a meeting point for emerging talent: “Today the island is becoming a stage for new artistic generations, and that is a source of great satisfaction.” Finally, she announced that, once its stay at La Misericòrdia concludes, the exhibition will travel to several municipalities in Mallorca so that it can be enjoyed throughout the island.
For his part, ADEMA President Diego González thanked all the participating universities for their involvement and emphasized that this biennial reinforces Mallorca’s role as an international benchmark in contemporary university art. He also noted that the event offers a real platform for promoting and promoting young talent.
The exhibition will be open to the public with free admission in the exhibition hall of the Pati de Dones de La Misericòrdia, from June 25 to August 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
