The Vice Dean of the ADEMA University School, Dr. Pere Riutord, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Barcelona Dental Show 2025, held on April 10 and 11 at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía. The event, currently considered the leading technological and scientific congress in the dental sector in Spain, brought together more than 6,000 professionals, 150 speakers, and more than 150 exhibiting companies, setting a record for participation.
The award was presented by the President of the Conference of Deans of Dentistry, Dr. Lluís Giner, after reviewing a professional career that encompasses key positions in dental, medical, and academic institutions. Giner holds several positions, including President of the College of Dentists of the Balearic Islands, Secretary General of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Balearic Islands, President of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a member of the Association for Dental Education in Europe and the International Association for Health Professions Education. He highlighted the awards he has received, including Dentist of the Year 2005 from the General Council of Dentists, the Honor Award and Special Appreciation Award from the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Excellence in Dental Education Award from the Association for Dental Education in Europe.
In addition to receiving the award, Dr. Riutord spoke at the conference with a presentation entitled “Use of Artificial Intelligence for the Early Diagnosis of Oral Cancer,” one of the forum’s most highly rated presentations. The third edition of the Barcelona Dental Show focused on the impact of emerging technologies, especially clinical simulation, digital workflow, and artificial intelligence-based diagnostic tools.
The event also served as a showcase for university research, with notable participation from ADEMA students. Fifth-year Dentistry students Aràlia Òdena and Laura Roigé were finalists in the scientific poster category with their work entitled “Adolescent patient with MIH treated with infiltrating resin in the anterior region.”
At the institutional level, Riutord also participated in a roundtable discussion on the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists, and the Conference of Deans of Dentistry, alongside prominent figures in the field such as Santiago Janer, Isabel Maura, and Lluís Giner.
It’s worth noting that the ADEMA University School has been part of the Barcelona Dental Show Organizing Committee since its first edition, consolidating its role as a key player in dental innovation alongside universities, professional associations, and industry.
